Chicago rapper L.H. announces upcoming album ‘Ldot Ambition’
Effortless, yet impactful, Chicago-based rapper, L.H. is gearing up towards his latest album release, ‘Ldot Ambition’, a cohesive record that solidifies L.H.’s well-earned place in the rap and hip-hop scene.
Following on from the success of two previous EPs, ‘Ldot Ambition’ is a dynamic and diverse collection of songs that are hard-hitting and innovative, demonstrating L.H.’s ambition and drive to make his mark in the industry.
The 10-track album begins with ‘King Koopa (Part 2)’, a powerful intro track with warm synths, lively hip-hop beats and the playful delivery of L.H.’s vocals, setting the scene for the record. ‘Money,’ a song about a drug deal, takes a slower approach, with L.H.’s flow stealing the spotlight, thanks to expressive storytelling layered over a slight tongue-in-cheek soundscape. Taking third position on the album is ‘Man (Part 2)’, which L.H. explains is about “the life of an indie artist starting off”, a narrative L.H. knows only too well. Swirling synths, reminiscent of the
opening track, are accompanied by punching sub bass and hard-core beats, while L.H. continues his effortless flow, embellished with a variety of charismatic vocal effects.
‘Packin (Part 2)’ follows in the same vein as the previous track; rotating chord sequences, and steady rhythms interspersed with impactful dropouts, highlight L.H.’s ability to perfectly execute fast-paced flows. ‘Zone (Part 2)’ is sure to get listeners hyped, with this high energy track, underpinned by synth bass and stacked backing vocals, keeping the percussion sparse for maximum lyrical impact. ‘Big Steppa’ switches up the album’s dynamics with hypnotic sonics, leaning into delayed reverb on the vocals, accented by stabbing bass lines. ‘Round Here (Part 2)’ embodies a theatrical vocal delivery and resonates as an anthem for L.H.’s own city. Embracing his storytelling skills, ‘Top’ is narrated from the viewpoint of a woman grappling with the feeling of being lost. The song provides a more gentle contrast than previous tracks, which further demonstrates L.H.’s ability to explore exciting dynamics throughout the record.
The penultimate song on ‘Ldot Ambition’ is ‘Whoadies’ which welcomes the warmth of an electric guitar and trippy hip-hop beats, whilst ‘GTFO’ closes the album. Opening in a psychedelic trance, ‘GTFO’ makes an abrupt, but hard-hitting switch, allowing listeners to feel the emotion in L.H.’s delivery, accentuated by slick production. ‘Ldot Ambition’ is a magnetic record that illustrates L.H.’s talent, from his impressive flow to his captivating storytelling that leaves listener’s hooked.
Since a young age, L.H. has known that music was his calling. Inspired by rap and hip-hop, he began working on his craft and embracing his creativity after leaving high school. His music has hit the airwaves on various college and indie radio stations around the world and he has headlined DIY tours across the country. Not just an artist and performer, L.H. is also the owner of record label, Visual Audio, a platform for him to release his music and make his way to the top of the game.
